Eurovision Song Contest - Athens 2006
Tuesday, May 23Just my thoughts on some of the songs...
4 - Latvia - Well, it was... different. Quite clever how it was entirely vocal, but a little ear-piercing at times.
6 - Spain - So Las Ketchup are still around then. Very mellow, not unlike Aserejé from a few years ago.
7 - Malta - Poor Fabrizio wasn't that bad was he? He deserved more than one point, and should have been higher than at least France.
14 - Lithuania - A nice, original, light-hearted song and I'm sad that it didn't do better.
15 - UK - I'm still feeling gutted. I actually felt sick. Daz had a great song, our best for years. We should have made it to at least tenth. Next year we'll go through the selection all over again and end up with yet another forgettable song. We were robbed.
17 - Finland - Lordi rock! Worthy winners and a good change for the competition.
Iceland - I'm actually quite disappointed that it didn't go through from the semi-final. Keeping in mind that Silvia is a fictional character, the song was quite good.
Belgium - How on earth didn't they go through? I though they were one of the favourites to win!
Now we have to wait another year for ESC 2007. It's always over too quickly. Now go and buy the DVD or the book.
